The first serious step into DSO imaging with the C8 and 0.63x reducer (FL=1280mm). No filters applied.

Since a 120mm guidescope would theoretically be too short for the system FL, I used a 60/240mm guide scope and a sensitive monochrome guidecam to further increase guiding accuracy. Further, I used ISO3200 and 30sec exposures to ease autoguiding. The star shapes are fine but slighty washed out by high air humidity of 90% and dew on the corrector plate of the C8. Though 200 pixels cropped, comatic stars in the corners hint on tilt and/or incorrect back focus.

The same issues apply to the image of M4 in revision B (ISO1600, 30sec, 40 frames). Clusters are great for evaluation of autoguiding while sufficing with short integration.

The wide field images are short captures with a 28mm on a StarAdventurer mount. The Milky Way in Sagittarius (Rev C: ISO800, 30sec, 70x) and Cygnus (Rev D: ISO1600, 25sec, 76x).

APP or PI may have tweaked more details but hesitating to invest because of constantly cloudy nights I currently use DSS and Photoshop only while keeping the stacks.

I have no clue as to why the Lagoon nebula turned out in blue hues, but it doesn't look that bad at all.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.

Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
